A Time to Be Thankful
11/24/2009
Thanksgiving is for many a favorite holiday, it certainly is for me. I have so much to be thankful for a loving family, great friends, great colleagues and above all good healthwhat more could a person ask for? Life is a challenge and I think we forget that from time to timetake for example the events of past year or so. It has been a complicated period of time that has included an economy that has been flaying, people concerned about layoffs or losing their jobs, investors watching their hard earned portfolios plunge and for many just the overall feeling of being on a never ending roller coaster ride. A world in conflict with our young soldiers fighting bravely aboard as many here may not truly understand or support the reasons why. It has been a tough year. We will always be challenged; it is how you handle those difficult times that truly matters. Remember nothing lasts forever, not the good times nor the bad. I think most of us over the past year have gained a new prospective on the world we live in as well as what truly makes us happy. Our wants are many but our needs are few, we live in a society where almost every product and service sold is billed as something you need! At the end of the day, you are the only one who can truly decide what your needs and wants are. But if you take the time to honestly evaluate your material and emotional purchases, you will have more control over both your finances and emotions. You will develop skills that will help you be a smarter spender and possibly more able to cope with lifes ups and downs. This past year has reminded us that our world is not perfectthings can always be better. But it is at this time of year that we need to give thanks and reflect on the positives in our lives and our collective blessings and often quoted when you think your life is tough there always someone who has it tougher. We at Allen & Company wish you and your family a blessed and bountiful Thanksgiving and a wonderful holiday season!
